Conclusion
Alternate Fuels
Resources should be dedicated to Coal technologies making the US the “Saudi Arabia” of Energy. The increased supply of Clean Energy in the US and Economies World Wide would have a very positive effect and fuel growth World Wide.
All sources of energy should be considered but Wind Power, a green energy, and Nuclear Power, deadly radioactive by products that last for thousands of years and contributes to Nuclear weapons proliferation, are not good alternatives.
Nuclear Energy
Nuclear Power is also highly dangerous and as stated in the video there is fear involved for the general population. It was also said to be safe before Chernobyl USSR and Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Plant near Middleton Pennsylvania.
The Nuclear lobby will argue that it is now safer and this is probably true, but just as it was supposed to be safe before, it is still highly dangerous, has a deadly by product, and continues to have a negative impact on the general population (fear and stress). A criminal act or an act of Terrorism could also be disastrous.
I personal still have images of nuclear waste being dumped in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and Green Peace members trying to prevent it.
Nuclear accident shakes Japan "Japan is facing an unprecedented nuclear emergency after a major uranium leak."
Wind Energy
According to some estimates large scale deployment of Wind Power is only feasible or begins to be profitable after 20-30 years or more. Having the landscape covered with wind mills is also not very appealing to many people.
Natural Gas Energy
Natural Gas is also a green energy and should be maximized.
Geothermal Energy
Geothermal Energy is also green and should also be maximized.
Solar Energy
Solar Concentrators and Nanotechnologies have made Solar Power a very good alternative. It’s capabilities to create Electricity have been greatly increased and it is much more affordable.
Fusion Energy
A larger Fusion Power Plant is being built in France (see video) with scheduled completion of around 10 years.
Perhaps sooner with more resources. This is also a reason why a 20-30 year investment in Wind Power is not a good solution. In the video it’s also stated that the technology has been
around for several years and they know they can do it. It’s just a question of implementation and working out the details. The current ITER partners are China, European Union, India,
Japan, Korea, Russia and the USA. Canada left the project in 2003 when it was not selected for the site
of construction.
Clean Coal Energy
Coal has a negative image because in the past, like Oil, it had emissions and also by products. With the new technologies the emissions can be greatly reduced or completely eliminated making it a green energy. Any solid by products, if any, can be safely handled unlike nuclear waste. Coal, as already stated, powers 50% of the US Electricity and it will continue to be used by Countries such
as China so it is in everyone’s interest to implement these technologies and continue to improve them. A Criminal act or an act of Terrorism does not endanger the population like a nuclear installation does. Clean Coal technologies can be implemented until Fusion Technology is implemented.
The Oil Industry
The Oil industry fears technologies such as Clean Coal, Fusion Power, and a Hydrogen Economy or would have an interest in preventing it’s use, creation, and research (it Is now available) or delaying it as much as possible. They would lose their power, control, and influence they have over economies and countries. I believe that they have used their power and influence to restrict or eliminate
founding for Clean Coal projects and technology. An example is the State of the Union address where George Bush promotes Clean Coal and the next day cancels
it's biggest project for it (FutureGen). This belief applies to Fusion
Power as well. It should be noted that the Bush family is heavily involved in the Oil industry
(special interest group).
As previously stated, it is also possible that an attempt has been made to harm the US and World Economies to prevent
or delay the implementation of these technologies.
Oil has also been a cause of War and Conflict. Even between Canada and the US tensions have risen over sovereignty over the north which involves Oil, resources, and passage. This conflict and tension is recent and was previously nonexistent.
Psychology, Politics, and the Human Species
Fear is often used to manipulation people and general populations.
I believe that fear and Terrorism have been exploited in the US. The current George Bush administration, in my opinion, has harmed the US “image”, Economy, and Country like no enemy ever could have or ever has in history.
The US Economy and what is happening effects the World Economy and safety as well. A Grand example is the US and other countries abilities to invest in research and space technologies to protect the Earth from a Meteorite that could wipe out the human species. Instead, as I believe, a Fraud has been committed by tax cuts to the wealthy and to pass off Trillions of dollars resulting
in this Economic Crisis. To continue this Grand example, we do not know if we are alone in the Universe. Delays in our progress and ability to protect ourselves from extinction would be another “Crime”.
